The City of Shelbyville and Shelby County are issuing an evacuation order for low-lying areas and areas prone to flooding due to major flooding expected this weekend.

The City of Shelbyville and Shelby County are issuing an evacuation order for low-lying areas and areas prone to flooding due to major flooding expected this weekend.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has forecast major flooding, and conditions are expected to worsen as the weekend progresses.
Important details:
• Evacuation areas: All low-lying and flood-prone areas within Shelbyville and Shelby County.
• Shelby County Water Rescue Team: On stand-by and prepared to assist with evacuations and rescues as necessary.
• Mandatory evacuation: Residents in the affected areas are strongly urged to evacuate immediately. Those who refuse to leave may face law enforcement intervention to ensure their safety and to prevent risk to public health and safety.
• Avoid driving through water: Never drive through flooded areas. Even a small amount of water can cause your vehicle to become stranded or swept away. Turn around, don’t drown. Water levels can rise quickly and unpredictably, and road conditions may be hazardous.
