On Aug. 30, troopers from the Peru Post conducted a saturation patrol aimed at identifying and apprehending dangerous and impaired drivers. Key statistics from the patrol include: Six arrests for driving while intoxicated; 20 criminal arrests; six drug-related arrests; seven felony charges and four driving while suspended prior arrests.
During the patrol, troopers issued 24 citations and 58 warnings. Troopers also responded to and managed 33 calls for service.
The patrol was part of a broader initiative to improve traffic safety and reduce accidents related to impaired driving.
"We are committed to keeping our roads safe for all Hoosiers," Peru Post Commander TJ Zeiser said. "The result of this patrol demonstrates our resolve to identify and remove dangerous drivers from the road. We will continue to carry out similar operations to ensure the safety of our community."
Those who suspect a driver of being impaired are encouraged to call 9-1-1 and provide detailed information about their vehicle, its location and the direction of travel to facilitate prompt intervention by law enforcement personnel.
