An officer was injured by an inmate during an investigation of a battery at the Parke County Jail.
The Parke County Sheriff’s Department reports deputies were attempting to remove items from an inmate’s cell when the inmate battered a jail officer.
No definitive word was released on the injuries but it is noted the officer sustained bodily injury in the incident.
The inmate, Kivan Rutledge, 27, of Kingman, is expected to face felony charges from the incident in addition to the charges he was being held on.
Rutledge has been charged in Parke County in past cases with intimidation, battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
