Indiana State Treasurer Daniel Elliott expresses his gratitude to Chairman Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) and members of the House Ways & Means Committee for prioritizing Indiana’s scholarship accounts in the biennial budget, ensuring parents have more choices in their children’s education.
“Thank you, Chairman Thompson and the Ways & Means Committee, for recognizing the importance of school choice and the scholarship account programs. Having walked this journey with my own family and now running both of these programs, we know how crucial it is for parents to have options and support to meet their children's education needs," said Indiana Treasurer of State Daniel Elliott. "We're seeing strong activity, with more students joining the waitlist for both programs each day. This funding increase is a big win for families that will pay dividends for generations to come," stated Treasurer Elliott.
The Education Scholarship Account (ESA) and Career Scholarship Account (CSA) programs provide Hoosier families with greater educational choices, helping students access resources tailored to their unique learning needs and empowering them to pursue their individual goals. 1,049 students have been funded since the 2022-23 school year. 862 students, inclusive of 156 siblings, have been funded in the 2024-2025 school year. ESA has seen more than 300% growth. CSA has seen 750% growth since its inception.
