The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) offers Hoosiers several chances to participate in their Free Fishing Days.
Each year, the DNR offers a few Free Fishing Days for those who want to learn how to fish or introduce a friend to fishing.
Saturday, June 1 Sunday, June 2 Saturday, Sept. 28
Free Fishing Days allow Hoosiers to fish on public waters without a fishing license or a trout and salmon stamp. Children age 17 and under don’t need a license on any day.
Rules such as bag and size limits still apply, according to the DNR.
For those who wish to fish more than four times in 2024, Hoosier adults under 64 years old can purchase an annual fishing license — which runs from April 1 to March 31 of each year — for $23. A trout and salmon stamp must be purchased separately from a standard fishing license.
