Illinois man arrested after chase through Vermillion, Parke counties

An Illinois man found himself behind bars in the Vermillion County Jail this week after leading police on a chase through Vermillion and Parke counties.

According to a Parke County Sheriff's Department report, David J. Hopkins, 41, of Danville, Illinois, led the Indiana State Police on a chase Monday on U.S. 36, starting in Vermillion County.

Parke County Sheriff's Department deputies got into position to use stop sticks and assist with the stop.

The stop sticks successfully deflated one of the tires, which eventually fell off the car, before Hopkins stopped in the NAPA parking lot at 115 S. Lincoln St., Rockville. After stopping, Hopkins bailed from the vehicle before police apprehended him.

Hopkins was transported to the Vermillion County Jail on charges of reckless driving, felony resisting law enforcement and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.
