On Friday, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) issued an order to dissolve the Marshall County Regional Sewer District after the Marshall County Commissioners and County Council sent a letter requesting the action.

The Marshall County Regional Sewer District has been working for the last two years designing a system for the lake communities west of Plymouth that would hook up to the City’s sewer treatment plan.

The order from IDEM determined that the sewer project was not economically feasible, fair, or reasonable, and that the District failed to file a modified plan for the operation of the District within the time prescribed by IDEM.

This means the sewer project currently being developed to bring sewage from the lakes region to Plymouth will be halted, and the board dissolved.
