Just in time for the madness of March, the movie Hoosiers will be rolling into The REES Theatre on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. for attendees to be greeted by a special guest, Dr. Steven Hollar of Warsaw.
Hollar stumbled into an “extra” role quite by accident when he gave a lift to Phil Wendel when they were both students at DePauw University. Wendel really wanted to be in the film but had no transportation. Dr. Hollar agreed to drive Wendel to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis where the crew was filming but had no interest in trying out himself. It was Hollar, not Wendel, who made it onto the screen.
Hoosiers was inspired by the Milan Miracle when Coach Marvin Wood led the Milan High School Indiansto win the IHSAA boys basketball tournament in 1954.
Plymouth’s Mayor and first lady, Mark and Leanne Senter, are the event sponsors.
Admission is $5 for individuals 13 and over, and free to those 12 and under accompanied by a paying adult.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or at www.reestheatre.com
