The Heartland Art Center has been featured in the 2025 Entrepreneurship Indiana Yearbook as an economic development success story, highlighting the downtown Plymouth organization's impact on the region.
The digital yearbook, published by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, showcases successful entrepreneurial ventures throughout the state. The Heartland Art Center article appears on page 39.
Anna Kietzman, president of Heartland Artists, expressed pride in representing Marshall County at the state level. "We are proud to represent Marshall County and grateful for the volunteers and artists who pour their time and talent into Heartland every day," Kietzman said. "And, we are thankful for our amazing community who continues to support our talented and passionate artists and growing programs—we could never do this without you!"
The recognition highlights the growing understanding of arts organizations as economic development engines. The arts drive innovation, attract visitors, fuel small business growth, and bring energy to downtown areas.
Greg Hildebrand, executive director of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation, which shared the digital yearbook, celebrated the recognition as a milestone for the community.
"We are proud of this moment and excited for what is ahead," Hildebrand said. "Stay tuned!"
The Heartland Art Center operates from Plymouth's historic Montgomery Ward Building, offering rotating art exhibitions, classes, performances, and community programs. The volunteer-run organization serves approximately 100 artist-members and provides free public access to its galleries.
The center recently received a $500,000 READI award designation to support its expansion, with matching funds from the City of Plymouth and Marshall County Community Foundation.
