The Heartland Art Center will host its third annual Black & White Gala on Friday, November 7, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the Heartland Art Center, 214 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
This elegant yet energetic evening brings together local and regional artists, musicians, performers, and culinary artisans for a night that celebrates creativity and community, all while raising funds for Heartland’s historic Montgomery Ward building renovation and the creation of a new sensory space designed to make the arts more accessible for everyone.
Guests will enjoy live music by Sentimental Journeys, a local jazz big band performing classic and contemporary favorites; “Art in Action”, featuring live painting by Heartland Artists and an unforgettable performance where dance and painting intertwine; and some “Caricature Chaos” with Mark Daniels of Goshen, where guests can commission quick caricatures of themselves or others, with each donation unlocking more creative and whimsical interpretations.
The evening, guided by emcee and local artist, Maggie Kubley, will also feature the Heartland Artists’ Annual Black & White Exhibition, showcasing striking and affordable works in black and white by member artists, as well as silent and live auctions offering original artwork, handcrafted items, experiences, and locally sourced goods. Guests will be treated to culinary highlights, including heavy hors d’oeuvres, charcuterie, and desserts prepared by Mimi’s Catering, Gather 2 Graze, and La D’zert Café. A beer and wine bar will also be available.
Heartland’s Executive Director Anna Kietzman will share updates on the renovation campaign at 7:50 p.m., followed by the live auction at 8:00 p.m. The evening will conclude with a Fund-a-Need paddle raise supporting the development of Heartland’s new Sensory Space, a calming and adaptive environment designed for visitors of all ages and abilities.
Tickets are $45 per person and include two drink tickets, delicious food, and live entertainment, all in support of preserving this historic building and fostering a thriving arts community in Marshall County. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in “Creative Cocktail in Black & White” attire and just have fun with it!
