The Head Start program for Marshall and Starke Counties is excited to announce that enrollment is now open for the upcoming school year. This free preschool program provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement opportunities for children 3-5 years of age and their families.
Head Start fosters positive parent-child relationships, enhances children's physical and emotional well-being, and prepares children for success in kindergarten. We welcome all eligible families to apply and benefit from this transformative program.
Program Highlights:
- High-Quality Education: The curriculum is designed to meet the developmental needs of preschool-aged children, foster a love for learning, and promote school readiness. School readiness goals align with district expectations and the Indiana Standards. All teachers are degreed and receive ongoing professional development. Parents and teachers review children’s progress four times during the school year.
- Health and Nutrition: Head Start provides health screenings, nutritious meals, and information on healthy habits to ensure every child is ready to learn and grow. The Head Start Registered Nurse monitors the children’s health and physical well-being.
- Family Support: We offer resources and opportunities for parent involvement to strengthen parent-child bonds and to support the child’s overall development. Parents may self-identify goals for themselves and/or for their children and are aided in their pursuit of measurable goals by their assigned Family Resource Worker.
- Safe and Nurturing Environment: Our facilities are equipped to provide a safe and welcoming space where children can explore, learn, and thrive. All sites conform to state licensing requirements.
For the past 40 years, Head Start has provided young children in our community with a solid foundation. The Head Start program is not just about education; it's about giving children and families the tools they need for a bright future.
