A change has been announced by Republic Services in what was expected to be Greencastle trash pickup this week.
In a social media post, the City of Greencastle informed residents to disregard what had been posted before. Trash pick up will not be delayed a day this week. According to the new information, Republic has decided that they will now pick up trash (not recycle) for “Tuesday-only” customers.
If you are a Monday trash pick up customer, go ahead and leave your toter out, and Republic will try to work yours in as time allows. They will continue with the rest of trash pick up this week as regularly scheduled.
The weather forecast calls for extremely cold temperatures this week. Recycle pick-up is suspended until the temperatures get warmer.
Customers who don't want to wait on trash or recycle pickup can go to Republic Services at 525 Columbia St., and get rid of it for free during operating hours, which are 8:30-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
The city contracts with Republic Services, and these are the operational decisions that Republic made, not the City of Greencastle..
