Governor Mike Braun has directed flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Captain Seth Koval, who was killed in action overseas in support of Operation Epic Fury on March 12, 2026.
Captain Koval served as a machinist with the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard. After graduating from Purdue University, he transferred to the Ohio Air National Guard as a combat pilot and instructor.

Koval answered the call to defend our freedoms, and his courage and service will never be forgotten. Governor Braun has ordered flags to be lowered statewide at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, April 4, 2026, as the family honors the remarkable life of Captain Seth Koval.
