Five arrested on drug, child neglect charges at Michigan Road residence

Five people were arrested Monday following a drug investigation at a Michigan Road residence, where an infant was removed from the home after officers discovered evidence of illegal drug use.

Marshall County Police responded to 3919 Michigan Road, Lot 8, on Monday, February 16, for a Division of Child Services call. Officers at the scene observed evidence of illegal drug use in plain view within the home.

Based on the initial findings, the Marshall County Drug Task Force applied for and executed a search warrant at the residence.

Following the search, five individuals were taken into custody after additional evidence was recovered. An infant was removed from the scene by child welfare authorities.

Those arrested include:

• Melvin J. Snyder, 55, of Lilac Road.  Arrested for possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance. Held on a $3,000 cash bond.
• 
• Julie Snyder, 53, of the Michigan Road address.  Arrested for maintaining a common nuisance, possession of meth, and marijuana. Held on a $3,000 cash bond.  
• 
• Bonnie Agee, 42, of Olive Road.  Arrested for visiting a common nuisance.  Held on a $1,500 cash bond.

• Melvin S. Snyder, 31, of the Michigan Road address.  Arrested for neglect of a dependent, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of meth.  Held on a $5,000 cash bond.  
• 
• Brittany Griffin, 29, of the Michigan Road address.  Arrested for possession of meth, neglect of a dependent, and maintaining a common nuisance.  Held on a $5,000 cash bond.

The investigation involved coordination between the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Marshall County Drug Task Force, along with the Division of Child Services.

The response began as a child welfare investigation but escalated when officers observed drug-related evidence upon arrival at the residence.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. All individuals arrested are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
