Greencastle Fire Department C-Shift crews were dispatched Tuesday to a structure fire just west of County Road 300 East.
Upon arrival just before 5:30 p.m., crews found a pole barn with a large excavator on fire under a lean-to structure.
Firefighters quickly went to work, deploying one line to knock down the fire on the excavator and a second line to stop the flames that were extending into the building. The fire was quickly brought under control, and no injuries were reported.
The excavator was a total loss, but the building sustained repairable damage.
GFD was assisted on scene by Greencastle Police Department, Putnam County EMS, Fillmore Fire, Floyd Township Fire, and Coatesville Fire.
