A downtown fire has destroyed a building that houses a Rushvile restaurant.
Over a hundred firefighters from Rush and surrounding counties responded to the Rushville Corner Restaurant at 3rd and Main in the 5 p.m. hour Tuesday. Crews were able to keep much of the fire damage from spreading to other nearby buildings in the compact downtown although smoke damage may be experienced by several structures.
As many as a dozen fire departments from Shelby, Henry, Franklin and Decatur counties provided aid.
No word on a cause has been released. Crews remained on the scene overnight to watch for hot spots and flare-ups.
