February 2025 Jail and Sheriff's Dept. Report

The February Sheriff’s Department and Jail Report reveals that 101 individuals were booked into the jail in February, with failure to appear as the leading cause of arrest, accounting for 29 arrests. The remaining top ten offenses for arrest last month included operating while intoxicated with 16 arrests, operator never licensed with 12 arrests, possession of marijuana with 9 arrests, and driving while suspended with 8 arrests. Number 6 on the list was invasion of privacy with 6 arrests, domestic battery was 7th with 5 arrests, and possession of methamphetamine was 8th with 5 arrests. Rounding out the top ten were possession of paraphernalia and probation violations, each with 4 arrests.

Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department made the most arrests in February, totaling 51, while officers from the Plymouth Police Department recorded 34 arrests. Other departments contributing to the total of 101 bookings include 6 from the Indiana State Police, 5 by officers from the Bremen Police Department, 3 from the Bourbon Police Department, and 1 each from Culver PD and Community Corrections.   

Population Report Day was March 3rd, when there were 128 inmates in the county jail. Four inmates were serving time for misdemeanor charges, and 23 were serving time for felony charges. Eighty inmates were pre-trial, 15 were awaiting arraignment, four were being held for another agency, and two were court-ordered holds. 

The jail had 105 males and 23 females.

The average population in February 2025 was 129, compared to 131 in July six months earlier and 155 one year prior.

Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated 72 accidents in February: 55 were property damage, and 17 were personal injury accidents. County officers initiated 56 case reports last month, issued 75 warnings and citations, and conducted 38 security checks. 

The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center handled 3,649 calls in February. Of these, 1,181 were 911 calls, with 98.81% answered in 10 seconds or less. The Sheriff’s Department also answered 1,029 service calls last month.

There are currently 1,264 total active warrants to be served.
