The site development plan for TWG Development’s proposed Eight37 Lofts project received a favorable recommendation from the Shelbyville Plan Commission Tuesday night at City Hall.
The proposed project located at 837 and 875 Webster St. on the city’s west side includes two three-story buildings with a total of 138 apartment units and a detached clubhouse.
According to paperwork on the city’s website, Eight37 Lofts will consist of 56 one-bedroom units at 735 square feet; 68 two-bedroom units at 965 square feet; and 14 three-bedroom units at 1,124 square feet. There also will be a single-story clubhouse for residents, a playground, dog park and bicycle racks.
The project is a Workforce Housing Development Site that will target individuals at 50-60% of the average area median income.
TWG Development completed a traffic study for the project. Currently, the project will only have entrance and exit points along Webster St. There is a phase II plan being discussed that would allow access to Miller Avenue.
Phase II of the development is anticipated for later this year.
The owner of the property is Christian Investments LLC of Shelbyville.
TWG Development’s site development plan now must be approved by the Shelbyville Common Council before moving forward.
