Eight37 Lofts celebrates grand opening

Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson (center) cuts the ribbon at Tuesday's grand opening ceremony for Eight37 Lofts.

Community leaders and development partners gathered Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the grand opening of Eight37 Lofts on the city’s west side.

The new workforce housing community is designed to expand access to quality housing and support continued economic growth in Shelbyville.

Located at 837 Webster Street, the property was once home to the Spiegel Furniture Company and Anderson Transfer Company. After the former industrial structure was destroyed by fire in 2019, the site remained vacant and underutilized for several years.

Eight37 Lofts returns the property to productive use, transforming a long dormant parcel into a residential community designed to serve working individuals and families.

Marisa Conatser, Development Director for TWG Development, speaks at the grand opening ceremony Tuesday in Shelbyville.

Developed by TWG Development, Eight37 Lofts consists of 138 apartment homes, including a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, providing housing options for a variety of household sizes and income levels.

Apartments are available at workforce and attainable housing rent levels, helping address one of Shelbyville’s most pressing community needs.

Residents will have access to modern amenities designed to support daily life and community connection, including:

  • Community clubhouse
  • Fitness center
  • Playground
  • Bicycle storage
  • On-site management
  • Energy efficient appliances and modern unit finishes

Residents also will have access to complimentary educational and life-skills programming through a CORES-certified service provider, with offerings focused on professional development, financial wellness, and personal growth.

Representing a total development investment of $32.8 million, Eight37 Lofts was made possible through collaboration among TWG Development, the City of Shelbyville, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), and PNC Bank.
