Decatur County Communications received several 911 calls reporting a crash with injury near North Decatur High School.
Initial reports indicated that a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by William Gardner, 66, of Greensburg, had collided with a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by Denise Johnson, 59, of Oldenburg.
Deputies obtained statements on scene indicating that the Subaru Crosstrek was driving northbound on State Road 3, approaching County Road 300 N. The Chevrolet Blazer was traveling southbound on State Road 3 when it crossed into the northbound Lane, and both vehicles collided.
Extrication of the driver of the Blazer was completed by the Clarksburg Fire Department. Both drivers were flown by helicopter to Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. The passenger of the Subaru was transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
The investigation into the crash is continuing. It has not been determined if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in this accident.
State Road 3 was closed for approximately one hour for the investigation and clearing of the wreckage.
