An 18-year-old was found dead in an abandoned home in rural Starke County after being involved in a car accident on Sunday.
According to officials at the Starke County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, deputies responded to the report of a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Range Rd and 250 North. Upon arriving, officers discovered an unoccupied vehicle that left the roadway and crashed into a nearby tree.
Despite search efforts, deputies were initially unable to find the driver. With the help of local citizens, the driver was later found inside an abandoned home near to the crash scene.
The driver has been identified as Logan Cooke. The preliminary investigation indicated speed and leaving the roadway as being contributing factors in the crash.
