Driver arrested for failure to move over for emergency vehicle on the side of the road

A Michigan City teen who failed to pull over or slow down for an emergency vehicle on the side of the road was arrested. 

On Monday, September 1st, just before 11 p.m., 18-year-old Alexander Keyshawn Johnson was driving on U.S. 31 near U.S. 30, and a Plymouth Police Officer was conducting a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle.

Johnson failed to slow down and move over before passing the stationary vehicles on the side of the road. A traffic stop was conducted on his vehicle in the area of U.S. 31 and 9A Road.

Johnson was taken into custody for reckless driving and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He was given a court date with Marshall County Superior Court II and a cash bond of $100.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
