Deadline is Friday: Heartland Art Center seeks submissions for "America the Beautiful" exhibition

Time is running out to be part of a special community art exhibition celebrating America's 250th anniversary. The Heartland Art Center is accepting online submissions for "America the Beautiful" through this Saturday, June 20th.

The exhibition is open to artists of all ages and skill levels, and all mediums are welcome — painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, fiber arts, digital art, mixed media, and more. The first entry is free, with additional entries accepted for a small fee.

"This exhibition is intended to celebrate the many perspectives, stories, and experiences that make up America," said Heartland Art Center President Anna Kietzman. "We hope to create a welcoming and inspiring community exhibition that reflects the beauty of our landscapes, our communities, our creativity, and the people who call this country home."

After submissions close, artwork drop-off will take place Tuesday, June 23rd, through Saturday, June 27th. The exhibition opens Tuesday, June 30th, and runs through Saturday, July 25th, hosted at the Historic Downtown Fire Station at 220 N. Center Street in Plymouth — recognized as the oldest standing fire station in the State of Indiana.

Viewing hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The exhibition will also feature a downtown scavenger hunt, and a public reception is planned during the 11th Annual ARTS in the Street Festival on July 25th.
