Tuesday evening the Culver Town Council approved the recommendation presented by Culver Town Manager, Kevin Danti to extend an offer of employment to fill the EMS Director’s vacancy for Culver-Union Township.
Jeff Koon, the former EMS Director notified the town council late last year of his intentions to resign at the end of 2034. He served as the EMS Director from 2020 until the end of 2023.
During Tuesday's meeting, Danti said they had two “great candidates” who were interviewed by Culver Town Council members. Council members met with Danti and discussed individually their preferences and the recommendation was to offer Michael Hasselfeldt the position of EMS Director.
Wes Coulter, a full-time EMT with Culver Union Township EMS was the second candidate.
Mike Hasselfeldt has been a paramedic and training officer in Culver since 2021. From 1997 to 2021, Mike was a paramedic at LaPorte County EMS where he also served as a captain and training officer.
Councilwoman Ginny Monroe made a motion to offer employment to Michael Hasselfeldt with an hourly rate of $26.50 and her motion was seconded by Bill Githens. The council unanimously approved the motion.
