An attempted traffic stop early Saturday morning ended with a crash and fatality.
Officers with the Wabash Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop just before 3:00 a.m. Saturday on a motorcycle near Market Street and Miami Street in downtown Wabash. The vehicle fled from officers, resulting in a short pursuit that ended in a crash near Miami Street and Walter Street.
Wabash Police officers, Wabash County Sheriff’s deputies, and Wabash Fire Department paramedics immediately responded to the scene and provided medical aid. The male driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further medical treatment, where he was later pronounced deceased. No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.
The Indiana State Police are leading the ongoing crash investigation. No additional information, including the identity of the deceased, is being released at this time pending family notification.
