
The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a call of a suspicious male at the LaPaz Quick Mart on Thursday, May 15th at 7:30 p.m.
Marshall County Deputies responded to the area and made contact with the male subject. During the investigation, Deputy Truty deployed his K9 partner Bear to conduct a free air sniff of the suspect's vehicle. Bear alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor in the vehicle, and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.
While searching the vehicle, deputies located suspected cocaine and methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia. The suspicious male was identified as James R. Voreis of Fort Wayne. He was subsequently arrested for Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
