County police arrested two individuals on Tuesday, one for operating without a license and the other for reckless driving.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on U.S. 30 and Michigan Road. The driver was identified as 49-year-old Jose Ayala of Winamac. He was found to be driving without a license, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked for operating a vehicle without a license. His cash bond was set at $100, and he bonded out in about two hours.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, a K-9 Deputy with the Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle on U.S. 30 and Iris Road. The driver was identified as 20-year-old Kevin Chan of Fort Wayne. He was taken into custody, booked into the Marshall County Jail for reckless driving, and held on a $100 cash bond.  He bonded out at 2 p.m. that afternoon.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
