County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters updated the County Commissioners on a variety of bridge projects Monday.
The weekly report from LaPorte Construction on Bridge #232, the Randolph Street Bridge over the Yellow River in Plymouth, continues moving forward. This week, they were to place the third and final span of beams, and then Fort Wayne Rebar will begin with the deck pans while they are placing deck rebar on spans one and two. Once the pans are on, LaPorte Construction will form and pour the upper portion of bent number four.
Bridge # 1 on Ule Trail has run into a delay because NIPSCO hasn’t relocated a gas line. Peters said the relocation was to be completed last week, but NIPSCO hasn’t started on the project, and the contractor doesn’t want to start on it until next month.
Commissioner Jesse Bohannon asked Peters to communicate with NIPSCO that their monthly request to work in the county’s right-of-way may be delayed if NIPSCO can’t complete the gas line relocation as they committed to.
The Center Street Bridge #231 in Bremen is scheduled for a 2027 letting date. Peters said work continues on the determination of a select or non-select through INDOT and DLZ.
Bridge #88 on 12th Road in Plymouth is scheduled for a January 2029 letting, and Bridge #108 east on 7th Road will be let for bid in February 2030.
