Marshall County Council meets Monday

The County Council meets Monday evening at 5:30 in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building and opens with a chance for the public to comment on agenda items. 

The Highway Department Subcommittee will discuss the request of the superintendent to provide a financial commitment letter for the 2026 Community Crossing Matching Grant.   

During the Commissioner’s meeting, Superintendent Peters detailed next year’s plan, which includes 14B Road from State Road 17 to the county line, 12B from the town limits to U.S. 30, Muckshaw Road from State Road 10 to 18B, and 15th Road west of the railroad to the county line.  The estimated cost is $1,454,319, and the county’s match would be $363,797.67. 

The Budget and Finance Subcommittee and Job Classification and Compensation Subcommittee will report to the other council members.

The County Recorder will present an ordinance supporting operating expenses from the perpetuation fund, while the VP from Marian University’s Ancilla College will provide an update, and the CEO from the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation will present the quarterly report.

Commissioner Stan Klotz will present a resolution that expresses interest in the purchase of the Bowen Health property at the corner of West Jefferson and North Plum Street.  The commissioner plans to relocate Community Corrections out of the Community Resource Center and into their own space.      

Under Council Items is a discussion on the regional sewer, transfers, and additional appropriations, and an amendment to the salary ordinance for the Plan Commission.  The council will also approve the Lebbin Law Invoice, schedule an appointment with the BZA, approve their 2026 meeting schedule, consider the 2026 Solid Waste plan, approve the 2026 County Budget, adopt an ordinance outlining job descriptions, and approve the 2026 Salary Ordinance.
