The Shelby County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased in Friday’s death at Ryobi Die Casting (USA), Inc. in Shelbyville.
Luis Roberto Cantu Benavides, age 50, of Columbus, Indiana, has been positively identified.
The cause and manner of death are still pending. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Shelbyville Police Department continue to investigate.
On Saturday, Ryobi released a statement.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the employee’s family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. Out of respect for the family, we are not releasing further personal details.
The safety of our associates is our highest priority. We are fully cooperating with OSHA and local authorities as they conduct their review. We are also conducting our own internal review of the incident.”
