Plymouth Police were dispatched to the area near Taco Bell on North Michigan Street Saturday morning, December 28th at about 2:30 for a possibly impaired driver.
Officer Lovely observed the suspect vehicle, a black Chrysler 300, near the intersection of Michigan and Jefferson Streets and initiated a traffic stop on Michigan Street near Alexander Street. The traffic stop was due to the driver’s speed.
While speaking with the driver and sole occupant, 20-year-old Alan Cantero of Plymouth the officer detected the odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. Cantero was removed from the vehicle and standardized field sobriety testing was conducted. He was offered a preliminary breath test which resulted in .134%.
Cantero was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where a certified test and then transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged for operating while intoxicated with BAC above .150% as a class A misdemeanor and minor consuming as a class C misdemeanor.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
