City police arrest 2 in two traffic stops

Traffic stops by Officer Fisher and Lovely with the Plymouth Police Department resulted in the arrest of two this weekend.

On Saturday, March 2nd at approximately 10 p.m., officers assisted Marshall County on a traffic at Michigan and Baker Streets. The vehicle was stopped for a headlight out.

The driver was later identified as Mario Dehilario-Tochimani, 31, of North Michigan Street in Plymouth. During the investigation, it was determined that he had never been issued a driver's license.

Plymouth Officers then took Dehilario-Tochimani into custody and transported him to Marshall County Jail where he was booked in for operator never licensed.  He bonded out about 40 minutes later. 

On Sunday, March 3, at approximately 7:30 pm, Officer Lovely was patrolling in the northbound lane of Oak Drive near Ritter Drive.  He observed a white Chevrolet SUV swerve left of center driving towards him in the southbound lane. 

Officer Lovely turned around and observed the SUV turn onto Ritter Drive and then pull into a driveway as he initiated the traffic stop. 

The driver was identified as Ruben Rodriguez III, 33, of 15th Road in Plymouth.  He was found to have a license status as a Habitual Traffic Violator.  Rodriguez was transported to Marshall County Jail where he was lodged for Habitual Traffic Violator Offense- as a Level 5 Felony and issued a $1,500 cash bond.

 Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
