Members of the Plymouth Common Council received a brief update on the 5th Annual Marshall County Community Clean Up Challenge, scheduled for this month.
Plymouth Plan Director Ty Adley informed council members that from April 14th to the 28th, the cleanup committee is working to involve various groups, individuals, and businesses in helping out.
During those two weeks, if you have a group of five or more, you can reserve (574-935-8618) a cleanup trailer for your clean-up efforts. The trailer is equipped with rakes, trash bags, gloves, and all the essentials needed to clean a neighborhood, park, or even a section of street. Bagged trash from clean-up projects can be brought to the Marshall County Recycle Depot during regular business hours for disposal.
Adley said the annual clean-up challenge is part of the city’s comprehensive plan.
Mayor Listenberger added that the city will power-wash the Tom Chamberlin Bridge on South Michigan Street over the Yellow River and is considering a project on Water Street.
The Plymouth Fire Department will also be washing down North Michigan Street downtown.
The mayor reminded city council members that they committed to being a cleaning crew and that he hopes to see them out cleaning up between April 14th and 28th.
On Friday’s “What’s Your Opinion Show,” two Community Clean Up Challenge committee members will join Kathy and Barb Holcomb to explain how everyone can participate in the project. Tune in right after the 9 a.m. news on FM 106.1.
