Residents visiting Shelbyville City Hall will now have access to additional public parking spaces following a recent redesignation of the parking lot located directly behind the building.
The change increases the number of parking options available for visitors conducting business at City Hall while providing convenient access to the building's accessible entrance.
The rear parking lot, previously utilized for employee parking, is now designated as public parking. The lot includes accessible parking spaces and is located adjacent to the building's accessible entrance, helping improve access for residents visiting City Hall.

"The updated parking configuration is intended to improve public access to City Hall services by increasing visitor parking options and providing convenient access to the building's accessible entrance," said Mayor Scott Furgeson.
As part of the change, the side entrance facing the employee parking area has been designated as an employee-only entrance. Public visitors should utilize the main entrance or the accessible entrance adjacent to the public parking lot.
In addition to the newly designated public parking area, residents may continue to utilize free on-street parking throughout downtown Shelbyville and the City parking garage located one block from City Hall.
The updated parking configuration is now in effect.
