The Plymouth Fire Department will be purchasing 15 new radios thanks to help from Marshall County.
A public hearing was held Monday evening during the City Council meeting to approve an additional appropriation in the General Fund for the fire department under capital outlays. Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski said the appropriation is for 15 radios to be installed in vehicles and will be reimbursed by Marshall County and Center, and West Townships.
The amount of the additional appropriation is $57,625. Marshall County has allowed each department in Marshall County to receive $50,000 to purchase equipment, supplies, and or training. The remaining $7,625 will be shared by the two townships that also help to fund the Plymouth Police Department and receive services from them.
The Plymouth Common Council approved the resolution by a 7-0 vote of support for the additional appropriation.
