The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was notified of a car-train accident on King Road just south of 1st Road on Friday, October 4th at 7:10 p.m.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, 68-year-old Laura Shoemaker of Bremen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The train struck the vehicle on the passenger side and threw it to the east. It came to rest on the south side of the tracks approximately 50 yards east of King Road.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner’s office, LaPaz Fire, LaPaz EMS, CSX Railroad Inspectors, CSX Railroad Police.
