On Monday, March 13 (2023) at approximately 10:25 in the evening, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a call in reference to a truck that had driven into water in the area of Lake of The Woods.
Deputy Anthony Bragg with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Dept. responded and located the vehicle on 3A Road east of Lake of the Woods.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision, 24-year-old Juan Guillermo Estrada Ruiz of West Water Street in Bremen was intoxicated. Ruiz was arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated – BAC above 0.08% and Operating While Intoxicated – Endangering. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
