The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received several 911 calls regarding a barn fire in the 2,000 block of 9B Road on Saturday, May 24th at 4:18 p.m. The property is located east of State Road 331 and north of U.S. 30. The Marshall County GIS indicates that David and Diane Banic own the property.
The callers reported to 911 that there was heavy smoke with flames visible and several explosions coming from inside.
The Bourbon Fire Department responded, and the Bremen Fire Department, Tippecanoe Fire, and Etna Township Fire provided mutual aid. While firefighters worked to control the blaze, the barn collapsed. Crews were on the scene for several hours working on hot spots.
No animals were injured in the blaze. The barn was full of straw and hay.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bourbon Fire Department.
Lutheran EMS and the Marshall County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
