Shelby County Coroner Bradley Rund has confirmed that a body found in the Big Blue River is that of a man who had been missing for several days.
On March 22, the Shelby County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the 2200 block of West Washington Street in Shelbyville after a deceased male was discovered in the Big Blue River.
An autopsy was performed on March 24. At this time, the cause and manner of death are pending final forensic laboratory results.
The deceased has been positively identified as Lyle Stanton, 61, of Shelbyville. Stanton had been reported missing for several days and had even become the focus of a Silver Alert.
This case remains an active and open investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
