The Board of Works will conduct an appeal hearing on July 7 at City Hall for Shelbyville police officer Kyra Peoples.
Shelbyville Police Chief Bill Dwenger appeared before the Board of Works on June 10 with a request to change Peoples’ rank from detective to patrol officer and place her on paid administrative leave.
No further details were released regarding the matter.
People has appealed the decision, and a hearing will now take place at 8:30 a.m. on July 7.
The hearing will be open to the public, according to Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson, who is one of three members of the Board of Works. The other two members are Tom Reaves and Rod Meyerholtz.
