The request of Jon and Laura Langfeldt to annex into the city approximately 8 acres behind Webster Elementary School was withdrawn during Monday’s Plymouth Common Council meeting.
City Attorney Jeff Houin said the tabled ordinance and resolution related to the annexation just off Bayless Street. The property owners requested to have the annexation request withdrawn. The area was where Garden Courts wanted to put a multi-family housing project that included several permanent supportive housing rental units. Some community members and neighbors were not happy with apartments, preferring single-family homes, and some didn’t want the permanent supportive units so close to the school.
Houin commented, “You’ll see later tonight there are some other proposals for that area. Hopefully, someday we’ll come back with a different annexation request for that property but for right now that particular request has been withdrawn so it can be removed from the agenda.”
