August at The REES Theatre packed with Reggae, Blues, a Classic Film, and a BBQ Fundraiser

The REES Theatre has a full slate of events lined up for August, offering something for just about everyone — from reggae and blues concerts to a classic film matinee and a beloved annual fundraiser.

August kicks off with a Saturday evening of island-inspired rhythms as Plainview Vibes takes the stage on August 1^st at 7:30 p.m. Known for their infectious reggae sound and energetic live performances, the locally connected band creates an atmosphere that is both relaxing and uplifting. The band features local musician Kayle Truman. Tickets are available through Eventbrite, at Na Rie Simple Treasures at 104 N. Michigan Street, or at the Everwise Box Office one hour before the show.

The Seasoned Citizen Movie Series continues on Wednesday, August 12^th at 2 p.m. with Sweet Dreams, featuring Jessica Lange in her Academy Award-nominated portrayal of country music legend Patsy Cline. The film follows Cline's journey from humble beginnings to international stardom, featuring many of her most beloved recordings. Tickets are $8 for guests 55 and older and include fresh popcorn and a drink. Thank you to sponsors Allen and Donna Pontius for making the series possible.

One of Northern Indiana's most celebrated blues acts comes to The REES stage on Saturday, August 15^th at 7:30 p.m. Big Daddy Dupree's Broke & Hungry Blues Band delivers a rich blend of traditional Chicago blues, soul, rock, and jazz, featuring a dynamic horn section, powerful vocals, and the kind of high-energy performance that keeps audiences coming back. Tickets are available through Eventbrite, at Na Rie Simple Treasures, or at the Everwise Box Office.

One of The REES Theatre's most popular community traditions returns on Thursday, August 20th. For just $15, guests enjoy a pulled pork sandwich, pretzels, and a drink — all prepared by Yellow River Tap & Eatery. Dine in, carry out, or schedule delivery for orders of 10 or more meals by emailing info@reestheatre.org. Pre-sale tickets are available at Coffee Lodge and Na Rie Simple Treasures. Every meal purchased directly supports the preservation and programming of The REES Theatre. Looking ahead, The REES Theatre is also seeking volunteers for the Blueberry Festival Half Pot Raffle on Monday, September 7th, in partnership with the United Way of Marshall County. Fifty percent of proceeds collected come back to The REES. Last year, volunteers helped raise more than $2,000.
