Arts in the Street seeking downtown businesses to assist if rain

The 11^th Annual Arts in the Street Festival is this Saturday, July 26^th, in downtown Plymouth.

While Heartland President Anna Kietzman is thrilled to bring artists, performers, and families together to celebrate creativity, they’re also keeping an eye on the weather forecast for any outdoor event.

In case of rain or storms, Arts in the Street is considering placing some artists inside downtown businesses to keep the event and foot traffic going, even in wet weather. Today, the weather forecast for Saturday predicts variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms, with temperatures in the upper 80s and a 70% chance of rain. 

Kietzman is asking downtown businesses if they would be willing to host at least one artist in their shop for several hours this Saturday.

They’re specifically looking for downtown spaces that have room for a small table or for an artist to set up. Kietzman said businesses should think paintings, jewelry, or prints, rather than messy or space-intensive work. The downtown businesses must be willing to allow setup to begin at 7 am and wrap up by 6 pm. Your business would benefit from extra foot traffic during the day.

If Arts in the Street is forced to move indoors, Heartland Arts Center will take care of coordinating with the artist and promoting your location as a featured “indoor stop” on the festival map.
