The Illinois Department of Agriculture (ILDA) is encouraging Lawrence County and other area farmers to take part in an upcoming free agrichemical container recycling program. It is set to begin in mid July and continue into August. During that period, sites across the state, including one here in Lawrence County, will collect containers that will be recycled to make shipping pallets. Containers that would otherwise end up in the garbage can be taken to the nearest collection site instead. Metal and household pesticide containers are not eligible for the recycling program. to obtain more information, contact the ILDA website or phone 1-800-641-3934 toll free. Among the three permanent collection sites in the state is the Klein Flying Service located at Westport in eastern Lawrence County. Their phone number is (812) 882-6685.
