The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) has announced that Lawrence County area farmers and agrichemical facilities will be able to take part in a free agrichemical container recycling program this summer.
Beginning in the middle of July and continuing into August, sites throughout the state, including a Lawrence County location, will collect containers that can be recycled to make shipping pallets. Metal and household pesticide containers are not eligible.
Among the collection sites is the Klein Flying Service located in Westport in eastern Lawrence County owned by Ryan Klein. The contact number is (618) 890-6685. Two other collection sites are located in the area in Wayne and Effingham Counties on a single day basis.
The program is a cooperative venture between the IDOA, Agriculture Container Recycling Council, GROWMARK, Inc, the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association, the Illinois Farm Bureau and the University of Illinois Extension.
For additional information, call the IDOA toll free at 1-800-641-3934.
