Just before 9 p.m. on Monday, January 12th, Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop on a gray 2007 Mercury passenger car on U.S. 30 near Elm Road.

During the investigation, a Plymouth Police canine officer responded to the scene, and the canine alerted on the vehicle.  A probable cause search was completed, and officers located a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

61-year-old Gearld L. Pond Jr. of Yoder, IN was booked into the Marshall County Jail for possession of methamphetamine and held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
