A 3-month-old infant was safely recovered Tuesday afternoon in Merrillville following a rapid law enforcement response to an abduction investigation out of Marshall County.
GIANT fm WTCA has confirmed with police officials that officers quickly located a vehicle connected to the case after an Abduction Alert was issued earlier in the day. The alert included a description of the suspect's vehicle, and Flock cameras — automated license plate recognition technology — played a key role in helping authorities locate both the infant and the vehicle in Merrillville.
An adult female suspect was taken into custody without incident and is being held pending further investigation by the appropriate agency.
The infant was safely recovered and unharmed.
GIANT fm WTCA has requested an official news release from the investigating agency and will provide additional details as they become available.
