Steve Keyser from Oliver Ford Lincoln in Plymouth has been with the company for over 29 years. Twenty-seven years ago, on his way to work, he saw kids waiting at the bus stop in sweatshirts when the temperature was in the 30s. He expressed his concerns to Jack, the patriarch of Oliver Ford, and Happy Jack advised him to develop a solution to the problem. That’s how Warm Up Marshall County was born.
Warm Up Marshall County offers new or gently used winter coats and accessories to children and adults in need within the Marshall County area. The program collaborates with local businesses and community members to gather donations and hosts a distribution event where community members in need can pick up warm clothing.
Donations of clean, gently used, or new winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, boots, and snow pants will be collected at several locations in Plymouth from October 29th to November 19th.
The collected items will be distributed at the National Guard Armory, 1220 West Madison Street in Plymouth, on Saturday, November 22nd, from 10 a.m. to noon, and on Sunday, November 23rd, from noon to 2 p.m.
Donated winter coats and accessories can be dropped off at Beacon Credit Union, Plumlee Dentistry, Schumacher Family Medicine, St. Michael Catholic Church, Parrett Veterinary Clinic, Pilot News, 1st Source Bank, the GIANT fm WTCA studios, and, of course, Oliver Ford Lincoln on East Jefferson Street.
Oliver Ford Lincoln and the community are working to keep every child and adult warm this winter. Please consider donating a new or gently used coat and other winter accessories.
Steve Keyser thanks the other area businesses that help to make this program so successful.
