Retirement of Brad Kile, chief of police for Bremen Police Department

For Immediate Release

Town of Bremen Police Department
January 7, 2026
Chief Bradley G. Kile will retire from the Bremen Police Department after over three decades of service to the Town of Bremen.  Chief Kile began his service to Bremen in 1989, first working for the Bremen Fire Department and then transitioning to his role as a police officer.  He was named a sergeant from 2002-2015, then appointed as acting chief in 2015.  Under his leadership, improved safety equipment enhancements have been secured, as well as  increased training hours that have improved the quality of the department’s goals and outcomes.

Assistant Chief Trent Stouder has been named the new Chief of Police.  Officer Stouder was a 2002 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and has been working for the Bremen Police Department for 24 years.  He completed the Police Chief Executive Training in 2024 and will continue his strong leadership with the department.  Assistant Chief Stouder has been a K-9 handler with two department police dogs.  Assistant Chief Stouder was also instrumental in starting a multi-county drug interdiction unit that successfully apprehended countless illegal drugs from the Michiana area.

A retirement celebration is planned for Monday, January 12, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Bremen Town Hall.  The public is welcome to attend to say goodbye to Chief Kile, and congratulate newly appointed Chief Stouder.
