Southwestern basketball held the lead after one quarter Tuesday but was outscored 46-22 over the next two quarters and lost to Oldenburg Academy, 67-47.
Four different Spartans scored in the opening quarter of Senior Night at Southwestern to take a 12-9 lead.
Matthew Belt scored 10 of his 18 points in the second quarter to get the Twisters the lead, 34-23. Jack Freeland sank four three-pointers in the third quarter when the lead grew to 55-34.
Freeland hit seven 3s in the win and finished with a game-high 25 points. Belt had 18 and Ray Walke added 10.
Oldenburg Academy improved to 10-11 this season.
Three Southwestern players scored in double digits. Cecil Newton had a team-high 18 points. Landon Drake finished with 12 and Dusty Stevens had 10.
The Spartans dropped to 5-15.
The Twisters won the junior varsity game, 59-37. Chandler Holt led the Spartans with 11 points.
Southwestern’s regular-season schedule ends Thursday at Anderson Prep (8-12).
